Noni (Morinda Citrifolia) is a fruit with extraordinary healing properties that most North Americans have never heard of. It's been successfully used for over 2,000 years in Polynesia, China, India and elsewhere. Noni migrated with the inhabitants to the South Pacific islands, Tahiti, Hawaii, Malaysia - and grows best wherever there is pollution-free volcanic soil. Like aloe vera, kelp, papaya, and other botanicals, the extract of the noni plant has been demonstrated to improve a wide variety of health conditions.
Dr Scheechter, director of the Healing Institute in Calfornia, reports that there has been a wealth of information supporting health benefits of noni. His work supports what traditional healers have known and used beneficially for thousands of years. He confirmed that the positive results obtained by physians usind noni were consistent with the results obtained by naturopathic clinicians. Dr Schechter treated hundreds of patients with noni and has been very impressed with the variety of illnesses that responded to noni.
The following gives a synopsis of some important data concerning his clinical investigations:
Noni stimulates the production of T-cells in the immune system.Tcells play a pivotal role in fighting disease.
Noni acts to enhance the immune system involving macrophages and /or
lymphocytes, which are a vital part of your bodies natural defenses
Noni has shown to combat many types of bacteria.
Noni has unique anti pain effects
Noni inhibits precancer function and the growth of cancer tumors by allowing abnormal cells to function more normally
Dr Schechter states, " As a clincal therapist, I have seen noni generate significant, even profound, therapeutic benefits for both prevention and self help of a wide range of health problems. "
For use in the United States, the Noni fruit is prepared primarily as a food supplement in juice form. Although the fruit is very bitter and has an adverse odour, noni juice doesn't take long to get used to, it is a medicine and its how it makes you feel that keep people coming back,
It can be blended with juice, not citrus, but is very nice with blackcurrant, pineapple, apple juice, even a little water takes the edge off the taste.
It is similar to blue vein cheese or balsamic vinegar in taste.

Pooled percentage of people who experienced objective and/or subjective improvement of their signs and/or symptoms after taking noni. The majority of noni users who did not get optimal results failed to do so because they took lesser dose and/or took it a lesser time than recommended.
Today, many scientists believe that serotonoin is indeed one component used in the biosynthesis of the alkaloid xeronine,From over 10,000people who used noni supplements, 92 percent reported significantly more energy, and 72 percent reported greater alertness and more clarity than before they had used noni.
Table 1 contains the statistical analysis of the data, including both primary and secondary applications, that I obtained from surveying more than 50 doctors and other health professionals who had taken noni and/or given it to over 10,000 patients. It depicts the number of people who drank noni juice for 23 different conditions, the percentage that were helped, and the primary active components (PAC) believed to be involved. It is my belief that although the PAC is the major component, it is the total blend of all natural ingredients that result in noni's optimal health benefits.
NOTE: Noni can be taken together with all other medications - there are almost no negative interactions. In some situations, noni can allow other medications to act more effectively. You should tell your health professional that you are taking noni, as your physician might want to decrease the dose of the medication prescribed. This often reduces the side effects from the original medication.
Noni has been reported safe for pregnant and/or nursing mothers.
One of noni's healing strengths likely comes from the serotonin connection.Dr Heinicke reported that many of the depressed people who drank noni juice had a significant clearing of their depression.Dr Heinicke related to me [and it was reiterated by several clinicians] that noni helped stabilize people with mood disorders. He also found that noni helped many people kick their varied addictions. He told me about a doctors wife who had tried every conceivable method to stop smoking and was unsuccessful. After using noni juice for two weeks, she was able to stop smoking and remained free of cigarettes.Dr Heinicke and other doctors also recounted several other people who were able to give up other addictions, such as alcohol, coaine, marijuana, and heroin when added noni to there pyschotherapy, commonly known as talk therapy.
Data suggest that Dr Heinicke has discovered that the critical building block to make xeronine is contained in noni. Healthly people generally have adequate amounts of all of the other components in noni except proxeronine. A lack of proxeronine in our bodies may lead to/or aggravate a wide variety of health problems, including cancer, blood capillary problems, mental problems, digestive problems, chronic diseases, and many others.
I have often been asked the question" Who should take noni, and for what condition?" In essence, my answer to that query is this; Noni is a wonderful preventive and medicinal agent that everyone can take, for almost any conditions, and at any time. Once you do, you will see how it can make a difference in your life.
It has been accepted that one of noni's major benefits is its relief of most types of pain. From the Eastern medicine healers of Southeast Asia, to the Hawaiian Kahunas, to modern-day researchers like Dr Ralph Heinicke and clinical naturopaths like Dr Steve Schechter, all agree that noni can relieve pain. The Kahunas believe it is due to the blended mixture of noni and prayer.
But how noni works to relieve pain is not so easily agreed upon. Different theories of how noni alleviates pain have surfaced. Dr Heinicke believes that pain relief is brought about by xeronine. Dr Schechter believes that noni allows the body to heal itself, thus relieving pain. Who is right? I suspect they both are. And I suspect there are probably many other unknown substances in noni that contribute synergistically to pain relief.
What does science have to say about noni's relief of pain? It is reported that xeronine, a key ingredient in noni, has the ability to help normalise abnormal protein and subsequent cellular function, including brain function, where pain originates. Dr Heinicke has accumulated data consistent with xeronine occupying a site adjacent to the endomorphin receptor sites.
Whatever the reason, doctors and other health professionals interviewed believe that noni helped 88% of their pain patients. In 1990, Chafique Younos reported that Dr Joseph Betz, a research chemist with FDA's Division of Natural Products Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, had said that noni root is reported "as having pain killing and tranquilizing properties."
In may of 1995, when I was an invited guest speaker at the second International Pycnogenol Symposium in Briarritz, France, I had an opportunity to converse with some French scientists. There I learned that at the Laboratory of Pharmacosny of the University of Metz in France, they had found that noni had a central analgesic effect. Simply put, they told me that one of noni's effects on the brain was to relieve pain throughout the body. Noni was 75% as effective as morphine sulfate in relieving most pain. In addition, noni is not addictive.
According to Dr Schechter, noni has long been used effectively and safely for pain. In fact, two traditional names for noni have been "painkiller tree" and "headache tree". Dr Schechter has treated numerous patients with noni who were suffering from chronic pain due to different reasons. When I interviewed him, he told me of the many case studies from people across the United States who have successfully used noni to alleviate debilitating pain.
So, the question arises: Does noni relieve pain without having toxic and addictive side effects? In 1990, researchers found that "the administration of noni extract shows a significant dose-related, central analgesic activity in mice." An analgesic is a substance which reduces or eliminates pain. The researchers went on to say that "noni extract did not exhibit any toxic effects." It is well documented that noni is not addictive.
